Amy Harris- BYU (Basketball) Amy has been one of my best friends since elementary! We've played sports together our whole lives. We always dreamed of playing basketball for BYU together...looks like that didnt quite go as planned;) But I am so proud of Amy, she is an amzing basketball player and has worked so hard for this. She's very dedicated and has a special love for the game. Y'all should see this girl play...she is unreal! I know she will be so great as a cougar and be a huge part of the team there! I couldnt ask for a better teammate or better friend! It was so cool to sign with her.
Riley Gates- BYU (Baseball) Ohh Riles, where do I even start! I freakin love this kid. We've been friends since birth. I had the biggest crush on him all throughout elementary and intermediate school. He was always a manchild when it came to baseball. Like when he was in little league he hit homeruns like they were nothing...us girls thought that was pretty neat! Riley thows gas. Let's just say that. If i were a boy, I'd be scared to step in that box if Riley was on the mound. Ever since he was little we all knew he'd go big time, someday I'll be watching MLB on tv with my children and I'll be like, "Hey...one time that kid held my hand in 6th grade!" haha Riley has always been a great friend to me to, couldn't ask for a better one!
Brytni Gurney- CSI (Softball) The Gurninator. Wild Thang. Bam Bam. This girls got so many nick names i never know which one to call her. Me and Bryt have played softball together since we were just little 3rd graders. I remember she always used to bean me, and it hurt cause she threw so hard! But Bryt got really accurate really quick. She worked hard every day on the mound, and improved tremendously. She throws so hard, and has some nasty pitches! Not to mention she can freakin go yakity yak anytime anywhere. She hits more homeruns than any girl i know. It's not healthy for little slappers like me;) Brytni loves softball more than life itself i think. It was so awesome to see her enclose on a dream she's had ever since she was a little girl. She works so hard, and is so dedicated to the game...I have no doubt in my mind that Bryt is gonna do great things at CSI.Brogan Secrist- CWN (Baseball) The Brog-meister. He is seriously one of my favorite boys all around. No one makes me laugh like Brogan. Brog has played baseball ever since I can remember, and he has always been good. He started on varsity really young, and people didn't think he was cut out for it I don't think, but holy cow...he proved them wrong. He has been such a huge contributor to the Warriors baseball team for 4 whole years...he pitches, plays middle infield, the corners, and pretty sure you could put him anywhere else and he'd be successfull! I knew Brogan would go play college ball becuase he's just that type of kid...when he wants something he goes and gets it. He's just a solid boy all around. One of the nicest kids you'll ever meet! I can't wait to follow him and watch how well he does at Western Nevada!
There were quite a few people at the signing, the whole room was full of family, friends, teammates, coaches, and teachers. It was so awesome, to know that all of my hard work and dedication, had finally paid off, and I'd get to persue my love for softball at the collegiate level. I committed a couple months ago over the phone. I had a little party at my house that my parents put together without my knowing, so that was fun! I am one lucky girl. There are so many people in my life that have supported me in EVERYTHING since day one. It was cool to share that moment and experience with them! I was cool to see my dad so happy, there is absolutely nothin better than knowing you've made you're dad proud. I hope to be playing outfield and contribute to the batting line-up with my slapping from the left side and speed ont he bases. Coach A told me, when I attended her camp this summer, that she had never seen a girl faster than me, out of all the national tournaments, the camps, the showcases, she had yet to find someone with my speed. So she hopes to perfect my slapping fromt he left side, so she can get me on base and score some runs!;) I know I'll have a lot to work on...I mean, it's the PAC 12. The best of the best. I would say that 99.9% of those girls play softball competitively all year round. Which kinda scares me, cause...I don't. So I hope I'm ready and prepared for what this all has to bring. It's a scary thought not going to lie. But I know that if I put my mind to something and work hard for it...I'll achieve it and be nothing less that successfull. The school is awesome, and my coaches are AMAZING. I promise if you were to meet them, you'd fall in love with Ute Softball immediately. But my heart is just full of gratitude, because I know that there is no possible way I'd be in this position had it not been for such amazing teammates, coaches, supporters, and family who have gotten me this far. I owe everything I am to them...but especially my dad!
