Finishing What We Started...

SC12...

It's crazy to think that ever since 3rd grade, this has been our goal. To think that we've worked for this very moment for over the past 10 years.  How it all came down to our last game, to achieve it. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this past season has been.  It really was one for the books, and I can speak for every single girl on the team when I say, it definitely won't be forgotten.  We started off the season on a high note, beating some really good teams in preseason play. So we knew from the git go we were capable of a state title.  After the passing of a really close friends, KJ Harrison, over the summer, it was an obvious decision that we would dedicate our season to him. And what's even more ironic is that the Championship game would be played on his birthday. So throughout the whole season that was our motivation...to get to that point and get a title for KJ.  But in the end, I think it's safe to say that it was KJ who got the title for us.  It's weird cause soccer usually doesn't tie in with religion much...but this season was different.  I ain't kidding when I say WE PRAYED MORE THAN WE PLAYED! The lords hand in our play was obviously recognizable.  You can ask Sarah Henderson, the two goals she scored in the playoffs, both of which were off of free kicks outside the eighteen...she didn't do it all herself. I can still hear the crowd, smell the perfectly cut grass, and feel the impact of those 50 million headers I took.  I could've lived in that moment forever.  That feeling after the final buzzer, is impossible to describe.  The only words I can use to describe it would be truly fulfilling. So many years, so many hours, so many tears, so many laughs, so many memories. Those girls weren't just teammates to me, they were sisters. And to share that moment with them, and our coaches...who have worked so hard for us and believed in us ever since we were little..amazing.

As for the celebrating...I don't think we closed our mouths or stopped screaming for a solid 20 minutes.

I couldn't say enough about my back line, they played lights out and we collectively didn't allow a single goal during playoffs. We had 11 shutouts, 9 consecutive.
